Rhinos Beat Leigh to Top the 8s Qualifiers With both the Rhinos and the Centurions already guaranteed Super League places for next season all that was to play for at Headingley was the pride of finishing at the top of the Super 8s Qualifiers table. As an added incentive, the Bev Risman Trophy would be competed for for the first time in honour of the Leeds and Leigh legend. Leigh brought a five month long unbeaten record to Headingley and we're taking on a Rhinos side who lost at Huddersfield last weekend and who were without a handful of regular first-teamers including McGuire, Burrow, and Garbutt. The guy who the trophy is named after not knowing what it was for was pretty embarrassing.

Thank Cist this seasons over!
The people behind the scenes certainly have ear their corn this off season.

As for the game, it was another example of a game ruined at the ruck. It's farcical. Never mind the structure, or the salary cap. Everyone involved in SL from the players, to the coaches, to the referees and administrators needs to think about how they want the ruck to be policed, because it's kinlling the spectacle.

Wasn't keen on Segeyaro blowing him a kiss as he ran over for his interception try, unnecessary that and not just because Smith is former Leeds.

Looked very good Golding. So did Moon, so did Segeyaro, so did Ward, and Cuthbertson had his best game of year. So much more pace and enthusiasm, rather than the boring trudging it up then running up your own backside, we have been producing all year. Couldn't say anyone had a bad game.

I notice the bickerer is obsessing about me again, ironic with his constant whines to Sal. But as usual he can't read properly, or has no idea of our usual line ups.

To be fair it's not just Smith. Looks like Leigh will be sponsored by Frey Bentos next year.

Pleasantly surprised by how much they threw into the game. To prevent Dawson from scoring in the first half when it looked nailed on was as good to see as anything else tonight.

The middle guys in Singleton, Cuthbertson, JJB and Segeyaro all had good games especially given the feisty nature as it went on.

On that point I already feel sorry for whichever referee has to do Leigh vs Wigan games next year. Their discipline was woeful and not sure how it took so long for them to be on a team warning or get a sin binning.

Thought Golding was ok but quiet the first half, had his two moments in a purple patch spell in the 2nd half but still lightweight and really showed when he easily bounced off Dawson for Leigh's 2nd try.
