Guinness World Record Attempt – Sunday 17th.May from 12:00 noon.

Come and support Thatto Heath Crusaders in their World Record Challenge.

This is a genuine and authorised attempt at a recognised World Record; the U/12’s are attempting to kick as many conversions as they can in one hour.

There will be other fun-for-the family events at the same time so come and support them at their ground at Close St., Thatto Heath.

The U/16's are also playing a challenge match

In my Yooff, younger days, I was going to attempt the W-R for the loudest whisle but there was certain criteria you have to under go, grass height, surrounding noise, etc I just didn't bother.

Hope they do it and get the record.

Long must already hold the World record for most kicks missed in 80 minutes.

408 converted kicks in 1 hour
The attempt took place yesterday and I’m glad to say Crusaders U/12's beat it. 408 kicks in 1 hour with the previous record being 127!
Lee Briers came down and opened with the first kick (which can’t count) and the lads had kicked 127 in about 20 minutes but they carried on and did the Club proud.
The Club would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part yesterday including Thatto Heath Crusaders volunteers and coaches who ran stalls, Danny Parkinson from the RFL and his band of volunteers, John McQuaid from St Helens Volunteer Centre and his volunteers, Lee Briers, Tanya Roberts from Helena Housing, Terryoake, Saints "Off the Bench", David Lowe (referee), Cllr Martinez-Williams, Tracey Baker and Sarah Casey (chief scorers), Chris Lawler from Ale & Beer Supplies for donating the Guinness and finally the under 12’s team and coaches for a fantastic job.
The official paperwork has to be finalised now and sent off to Guinness World Records before we can officially claim the record and be crowned World Champions but watch this space.
Also thanks to Thatto and Waterhead under 16’s who played a friendly game in support of Teenage Cancer Trust, credit to both teams for their great sportsmanship.

How long did the previous record stand for? 127 was the old record and your kids did 408 I presume the previous record was from 1745 when rugby balls were made of concrete and the sport was still to be invented?

Hope you get plenty covereage in the local rags for your efforts, nice work indeed.

The important stat is the amount attempted. Then we can judge if Longy is worth more than a 12 year old would be.

Quite apart form the U/12's magnificant effort, the day was quite significant all in all 'cos we also used it to promote the work of volunteers in sport and RL in particluar (and to ty and coax out some more), to give any kids who wanted one to one coaching from Saints coaches (they also got 1 adult and 1 kids ticket to Friday's game as a result of getting involved) and also to promote teenage cancer as one of our 16's is currently responding well to treatment and was present at the friendly with Waterhead watching his team-mates.
