Thaler... : Sat Aug 15, 2020 8:11 pm
Tonight was a shocking example of a referee ‘bottling it’ OK it was three minutes in, but a deliberate shoulder, with no attempt to raise an arm to tackle, maybe not intentionally to the head, but a sending off no one could have any complaints about as it was a shoulder to the head which is a sending off offence.

A Huddersfield player out of the game for 77 minutes and ‘Ben the bottle’ goes yellow.

Sorry but he should be ‘stood down’ for a round as has happened to others. If there’s any doubt his ‘miss’ of a forward pass for Wires second try should make it a no ‘brainer.’

End of the day a narrow loss was in some way a ‘win’ for us tonight, but regardless of the points that have now gone Thaler cost us a chance of winning as Wire should have played 77 minutes with 12 men.

Well done to Huddersfield for their effort !!!!

If that was his call based on all the replays it’s worse than Thaler but then it was the useless Hicks....

Did he miss the forward pass or was that Hicks too...

Or disallow a try cos Austin conned him by feigning a head injury ....

Also if two refs can’t get it right with the help of video replays showing clearly shoulder to head... then the refs department needs a boot up its derrière ...

Thaler being cack goes both ways. Currie challenges for a ball and gets ragged backwards by the collar while he's in the air by Cudjoe so his feet come up off the floor and HE gets penalised because said feet touched a Hudds player as a result. LAUGHABLE. How that went your way Lord only knows. Refs aren't bent they're just generally incompetent.

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

Thought huddersfield were really good tonight some massively tough luck, losing a prop for 77 mins and the opponent only gets a yellow, the disgraceful forward pass for widdops try and to lose seizar for the last 20 was a killer. Some spirited efforts though from the hooker , good to see cudjoe back out there. Some good youngsters at fartown, I'm a big fan of both senior bros and McIntosh plus english and russell

Sod Thaler, what about Austin. A knee brushes his head and 10 seconds later he goes down to the floor. Utterly embarassing. The fact the wolf’s need to play that card to best Huddersfield says it all. Saints and Wigan would have put 50 past that Huddersfield team

It was a shocking display of officiating, Huddersfield robbed for the second game in a row because of it. Not giving BMM a red card and missing the forward pass for the Widdop try were two unforgivable mistakes.

Have to say, when you consider that Warrington have a marquee stand off and scrum half they’re terrible to watch, one of the most boring teams in SL. Really don’t understand why they didn’t get rid of Price at the end of last season because their style of play is horrendous which is ridiculous given some of the players they have. They’ll regret not bringing in Ian Watson because Price is a pretty poor coach. The only thing that’s getting them through those sort of games is individual quality and they’ll always be a threat in one-off knockout games because of it but if I was a Warrington fan I’d find it difficult to watch that sort of performance week in week out. Although they’ve done a number on them in the big games in recent times I can’t see them troubling St Helens this year, will need to improve to beat Wigan as well. Thought Huddersfield gave it a good go and had they not been down two players for most of the game or if they’d had a bit more luck with decisions they would have won. Think Warrington and Catalans/Leeds will beat them to the top 4 but they should come close for the final spot.

Agreed Wire should have had a penalty...

However I don’t usually ‘bag’ the ref it’s not an easy thing to do..

But firstly watch BMM’s tackle his intention was to put the shoulder in to make Matty think twice about what’s coming when he runs in. No problem with that until it goes wrong.

However when it hits the head it’s a sending off nothing more nothing less.

Austin got a brush of the knee and from the replay it was from his own player and put his hand to his head to try stop the game as Hudds were likely to score.

The grin on his face said it all when Thaler was daft enough to go for it. If it was a bad knock fair enough, he’d have needed a head assessment like Walne, but it was in all but name a professional foul. Followed by a blatant trip for which he was rightly sin binned.

The pass to Widdop was forward in any game, but we’ve all seen em given before and will see them given again.

My point Is that Thaler bottled the big decisions in this game and if he’s the best of the refs god help the worst.

Then in the post match interview Price has the neck to bleat about the adversity of two men in the sin bin, Austin should have been in twice and Masilla sent off I think his bleating was a bit rich.

However on a positive note it was the type of game SKY needed after the one before it if we are to secure a good new TV deal.

Be interesting to see what they make of Tomkins little attempted ‘kick’ very petulant in a game that was almost already won but typical of the man.....
