Box Stadium - Part 2 : Wed Apr 05, 2017 7:55 am
Hope the mods don't mind but I didn't want this lost in what is now a very long thread.
Hello all, We are really moving now but I think it's time to concentrate our efforts a bit. Although this is a national issue it's at local level where we can apply the most pressure. What we now need to do is push the regional media organisation below to do there job and chase the story and bother the hell out of Box. I have listed below the points I think we should concentrate on but if TRB or Sandal etc want it differently I'm sure they will let us know. 1: Introduce yourself more as a concerned ratepayer than a Trinity fan who just wants the best for the city. 2: Point out your concerns to whichever media group you're writing to isn't pursuing this massive local story with any obvious vigour, whilst two national newspapers are doing their job for them - add links to stories to your e-mail or letter. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/footba ... tin-O-Neil http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/gene ... 66791.html 3: Point out WMDC's massive failure in sports provision which is why the Community Trust was set up in the first place and why the Council supported the Newmarket development at great cost to the rate payer - note that it's not just a stadium but facilities for all - this is the real scandal - the total and wilful disregard of the Government Inspectors report and the 106 Agreement. This is the borderline illegal stuff and it's certainly the scandal. 4: If you wish to bring Cas in then commend their development and how helpful CASTLEFORD SHAREHOLDER BOX has been. Also point out that it's location makes it totally unsuitable as a Community Stadium for the whole of WMDC - lets not alienate Cas fans and their current more enlightened BOD. 5: End by saying it's not money we want from the Council (though that would be nice - subtle) but for them to force the developer York Court into fulfilling their legal and moral obligation to the Wakefield ratepayer. Then if York Court won't play ball then the council uses it's considerable powers to force them to do so even if that means taking them to Court. 6: Point out that this is a massive issue locally where we need to show that the old style corrupt Labour District monopolies are dead and that a modern "Northern Powerhouse" really does exist. Put your own slant on it so long as we are not to abusive or personal. We have a great case so no need to sound bitter or overly aggressive. The 106 Agreement - all the info you really need is in both articles. calendar@itv.com look.north@bbc.co.uk. yep.newsdesk@ypn.co.uk yp.newsdesk@ypn.co.uk editorial@wakefieldexpress.co.uk |
