First Time for everything : Thu Jun 24, 2021 8:32 pm
Well apologies for the doom and gloom post but I`ve got to say, I can`t ever remember walking away from the ground having won feeling disappointed...

Wigan should never have been in that game in a million years and yet we gave them chance after chance.

Granted we were missing a few tonight, and I could forgive somethings on attack not coming off or the odd error, but we played absolutely clueless rugby tonight and relied on a few strokes of luck to get us over the line in the end.

Anyway 2 points is 2 points and that's just about the only positive for me tonight.

Keeping my fingers crossed that TJs injury isn`t anything serious.

Echo that. The two points is about all that was good about that.

We put this festival on you ba****ds
With whole lotta love
We worked for one year for you pigs
And you wanna break our walls down
And you wanna destroy
Well you go to hell

Well a win's a win and that all but puts us safe now with Leigh losing yet again. 2 very poor teams on the night, both of whom had excuses for the low quality offering.

Next season may as well start now.

We got nothing from Lino tonight, if I didn't know better I'd say he was injured. He was very quick to pass the ball on, not taking the line on.

It's been very much the same story for the last few years, lots of endeavour, but no smarts. Defence is much better so I think I can see what Last and Poching have brought to the table (I say that as it's a marked improvement on Chester's full tenure so as an outsider I can only put it down to the new coaches).

That attacking performance though really doesn't sugar-coat the rumour of a new deal for CC, if anything it could easily put people off with more if the same on the cards.

That’s a bit of a double edged dagger in Chesters back.

The defence has improved but Chester gets no credit and it’s all Last and Poching.

The attack while it wasn’t great did the job. Still it’s all CC fault for and not Last or Poching.....

Chester should take just as much credit for the defence as other coaching members and equally the same applies for attack.

I’m just happy that we have improved in our defence. There’s certainly been improvements since early season performances and hopefully we can kick on now.

Was it a great performance? Absolutely not.

Was it a professional performance? Absolutely.

The defence was fantastic and there were some cracking plays particularly on the short side which was clearly tactical.

Some of the fringe players showed up really well Yusuf in particular I thought was fantastic.

It clearly wasn’t a perfect performance but when you are struggling and low on confidence you revert to the basics and that is what Chester has done, rebuilding from the defence.

The win tonight pretty much guarantees Trinity SL status next year, which in turn gives us the ability to prepare for next year now in regards recruitment.

I’m normally a glass half empty kind of guy however tonight I’m made up with the result and a professional ugly win.

Clearly I’m, as usual, I’m the minority.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: First Time for everything : Thu Jun 24, 2021 10:55 pm
At no point looked like losing tonight. Wasn’t fantastic flowing rugby but the graft and heart were there. Big win because we’ve lost so many games like over the last few years.
